The shikra is a small bird of prey and scientific name is Accipiter badius, the family is Accipitridae. They are found widely in Asian countries and Africa. In the Africa they known as the little banded goshawk. The shikra is similar with other sparrowhawk species like Chinese goshawk and Eurasian sparrowhawk. They are feed on rodents, squirrels, small birds,  sometimes small snakes, small reptiles, lizards, and insects. They are a small raptors and 25 to 30 cm long, a narrow and long tail, short rounded wings, underside with fine rufous bars. The females are slightly larger than male. They have mesial stripe on their throat, with dark but narrow looking.
